“Why am I as I am? To understand that of any person, his whole life, from birth must be reviewed. All of our experiences fuse into our personality. Everything that ever happened to us is an ingredient.” – Malcolm X

How can you map out your personal ingredients and key experiences to better understand your #leadership journey?

In this video, I reflect on the lessons of #leadershipeffectiveness taught to us by Malcolm X. Through his life his skillset of engaging and inspiring others was seen as both a gift and a threat. Despite this, he recognized he had to negotiate with a range of different people to achieve his overall goal.

This #BlackHistoryMonth, I ask you to take some time to reflect on which leaders you consider effective. Ask yourself, “When others think of leadership effectiveness, does my name come to mind?”

I mention the book “The Dead Are Rising: The Life of Malcolm X” in this video, which you can find here.
